Responsible Gambling

This page matters more on this site than on most, for one reason: a GamStop registration has no effect at any casino we list. If you rely on GamStop for control, the casinos on our homepage are outside it. Here is what does work.

Free Help in the UK, Right Now

  • GamCare — National Gambling Helpline: 0808 8020 133. Free, confidential, open 24 hours a day, every day. Live chat at gamcare.org.uk.
  • BeGambleAware.org. Self-assessment tools, advice for friends and family, and routes into free local treatment.
  • Gordon Moody. Residential and online treatment programmes for severe gambling harm.
  • NHS gambling clinics. Referral through your GP or directly, depending on your area.

Why GamStop Does Not Reach These Casinos

GamStop is a condition of holding a UK Gambling Commission licence. Every casino the Commission licenses must connect to it, and a registration blocks you at all of them at once. A casino licensed in Curaçao or the Comoros holds no UK licence, so it has no duty to check the GamStop register and no mechanism to do it. Your self-exclusion remains fully in force at every UK-licensed casino, and it cannot be cancelled early.

Tools That Work Regardless of Licence

  • BetBlocker — free. Blocks gambling sites across your devices, wherever the operator is licensed.
  • Gamban — paid. Same principle, blocking at device level.
  • Your bank's gambling block. Most UK banks now refuse card payments to gambling merchants on request, usually with a cooling-off period of 48 hours or more before it can be lifted. That delay is the point of it.

Used together, blocking software and a bank block cover what GamStop cannot.

Limits Worth Setting

Every casino we list offers deposit limits, session reminders and account closure. Set them when you open the account, not later. Be aware that these limits are per casino: a limit at one says nothing about the next, which is the practical difference from a scheme that applies across every operator at once.

Signs Worth Taking Seriously

  • Betting more than you decided to, or chasing a loss to get level.
  • Gambling with money meant for something else, or borrowing to gamble.
  • Hiding how much you gamble from people close to you.
  • Gambling to escape stress or low mood rather than for entertainment.
  • Feeling unable to stop once you have started.

If any of that is familiar, call 0808 8020 133. It is free, it is confidential, and it is answered around the clock.

Age

You must be 18 or over to gamble in the UK. Nothing on this site is an encouragement to start.
